Thorburn Named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week

SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah guard Shona Thorburn was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, marking her fourth career honor.
Thorburn, a 5-10 senior from Hamilton, Ontario, tallied a career-high 13 assists in Utah's 81-54 win over Gonzaga. Thorburn's 22 points against the Zags marked her first double-double of the season, and 12th of her career. That game also marked the sixth time she had reached double-figure assists in her career. Against Weber State, Thorburn scored four points in a 9-1 run at the end of the first half to give the Utes a 25-19 lead. She tallied 15 points and eight rebounds in that game.
For the week, Thorburn averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 assists, while tallying 19 assists and four steals. She shot 61 percent from the field (11-for-18) and was 12-for-15 (.800) from the free throw line.
