UTE SENIOR MEET:
The University of Utah swimming and diving teams rounded out the preseason Friday when they hosted the Ute Senior Meet at Ute Natatorium. Eight club teams participated in the open meet, to tally over 180 swimmers from the Salt Lake Valley swimming in the event.
Utah's outstanding performers include: Amber Walter's NCAA `B' cut in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.69 and Shannon McQueen's 100 back time of 58.62. Jonathan Larsen finished the 100 free with a time of 46.19 and Eric Jorgensen swam the 200 free in 1minute, 45.60 seconds.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Michael Litzinger:
"It was great to get up and race on a Friday night. The opportunity to do back to back events, and evaluate those performances fit right into our training for the week. The team is really looking forward to swimming a straight-up duel meet this weekend and getting the season off to a great start. UC San Diego's women finished third and the men fourth at the 2005 Division II NCAAs. They are well coached and have some great athletes."
