Utah All-America gymnast Melissa Vituj, the 2004 NCAA South Region all-around and balance beam champion and Utah's only three-time Most Valuable Gymnast ever, has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII at-large team. As one of 10 first-team selections, Vituj advances to the national ballot.
Vituj, a senior, has a 3.452 grade point average in health promotion and education. She led Utah into the NCAA Super Six Championship all four years of her career and was an 11-time All-American and four-time NCAA floor exercise finalist. She placed third on the floor exercise at the 2004 NCAA Championships. The native of Ada, Mich., won 48 event or all-around titles in her illustrious career and her name appears eight times in Utah's top 10 all-around scoring list.
