Utah Update
Utah wrapped up its pre-Christmas schedule with a 72-59 loss at the hands of Oklahoma on Dec. 21 at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. It was the worst home loss in nearly 10 years.
The Utes opened the game just 1-for-11 from the field, while Oklahoma opened up a 15-4 advantage. Utah climbed back within two points on two occasions in the first half, but could not get over the hump. OU led by six, 35-29, at the intermission.
The Utes were cold to start the second half as well, missing their first seven attempts from the floor. The Sooners used that stretch to quickly build their advantage back into double digits.
Kim Smith led all scorers with 19 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Camie Allen scored a career-high eight points in the loss for Utah. Deanne Hanchett tied a season- and career-high with seven rebounds for the Utes.
