COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah senior Cody Rempfer and sophomore Kelsey Patterson have been named Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer and Women's Diver of the Week, respectively. This is Rempfer's first award of the year, while Patterson notched her second award of the year.
A native of Lodi, Calif., Rempfer helped the Utes to their first win of the year after competing in six events last week vs. Denver, including victories in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.82) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.46). He outdistanced second place by more than five seconds in each event. He also competed on first-place relay teams in the 400-yard medley (3:24.22), the 200-yard freestyle (1:25.05) and 200-yard medley (1:32.45), and placed second as part of the 400-yard free relay (3:08.93).
Patterson, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events vs. Denver last week to remain perfect this season through four meets. She scored a 230.55 in the 1-meter and 265.95 in the 3-meter event.
