SALT LAKE CITY - Junior Ben Thornhill has been named to the 2003-2004 first-team Academic All-District At-Large team. This honor recognizes student-athletes as a member of an elite group of collegiate student-athletes who have excelled at the highest level, both academically and athletically.
Earning a position on the Academic All-District Team requires countless hours of hard work and dedication, along with strong personal motivation and discipline.
The Whistler, British Columbia, native is a two-time NCAA giant slalom champion. Thornhill earned first-team All-American honors last season after winning the GS and placing sixth in the slalom, while helping to lead the Utes to a second-place finish at the 2004 NCAA National Skiing Championships. The downhill skier is also a '04 scholar-athlete and honor roll honoree. Thornhill is currently pursuing a degree in business and sports a G.P.A. of 3.57.
