SALT LAKE CITY -
College Football News and The Sporting News have released their all-conference teams and they look nearly identical to the all-Mountain West team chosen earlier in the week by the league's coaches and media, at least where the Utes are concerned.
Utah senior offensive lineman Jordan Gross, senior defensive lineman Garrett Smith, junior defensive lineman Jason Kaufusi and junior defensive back Antwoine Sanders (who will forego his senior year to enter the NFL draft) were cited by both periodicals. Senior linebacker Sheldon Deckart was named to The Sporting News' all-MWC team.
Deckart was also noted in College Football News as one of its top 30 players regardless of position, finishing 20th. Gross, a first-team All-American, was listed third on the all-position list, while Kaufusi was eighth, Smith 11th and Sanders 15th.
