WINTERPARK, Colo. - The University of Utah ski team is in second place after Day 1 of the Denver Ski Invitational on Saturday. Trailing Denver by 11 points, the Utes have a firm grasp on second place.
The women's cross country team led all team scores in the 10K classical competition, with second, fifth and seventh place scores. The men's alpine team also led the pack with its third, fifth and sixth place performances.
Utah placed fourth overall in the men's 15K classical and fourth overall in the women's giant slalom, including a first-place showing followed by 13th and 17th place finishes.
Competition will wrap up on Saturday with the cross country sprint and alpine slalom events.
