The "Skier of the Week Award" winners were named by the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association from the University of New Mexico Invitational, with Utah pulling off a clean sweep. The Utes earned honors from the men's and women's teams in both the alpine and nordic competitions. Utah leads the UNM Invitational with only the postponed men's giant slalom race left.
Jernej Bukovec earned "Skier of the Week" honors in the men's alpine category, where he placed first in the slalom event. Bukovec, a sophomore, has contributed to the success of the men's alpine team all season and led the Utes to a first-fourth finish in the slalom at the UNM Invite.
The women's alpine honor went to sophomore Petra Svet, who finished second in the slalom and fourth in the giant slalom for the Utes.
Ryan Quinn and Lene Pedersen each provided fourth place overall finishes in the nordic pursuit to earn the honors and fill the sweep for the Utes. Quinn was last year's Junior National Champion and an NCAA qualifier. He also teamed up with Zac Simons to win the U.S. Cross Country National Sprint Relay.
Pedersen, a senior from Bodo, Norway, is a two-time NCAA qualifier for the Utes. She placed 15th in the freestyle event both years. She is a five-time participant in the Norwegian Cup.
