The University of Utah women's swimming and diving team traveled to Corvallis, Ore., on Oct. 26 to compete against Oregon State. Utah lost its first dual meet of the season by a score of 116-89.
Freshman Loren Sweny led the Utes by taking top honors in the 200 free and 200 back. Sweny set a Utah school record in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.27. Neringa Statkeviciute finished first in the 100 free with a time of 52.40, and finished second in the 50 free with a time of 24.54. Sophomore Kristen Kaiser finished second in the 200 fly, 500 free and 1,000 free, with times of 2:09.72, 5:06.21 and 10:15.85 respectively.
"I have never seen a Utah team swim harder than tonight," says head coach Mike Litzinger. "It was a terrific meet coming down to the final events, and our event winners and our depth performed great."
