Men's Golf Places Seventh At Grand Canyon/Thunderbird Invite

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Utah golf team placed seventh (880) at the Grand Canyon/Thunderbird Invitational after they edged their way out of a tie for eighth place after the first two rounds of play. Junior Brock Padilla had his highest finish and shot his lowest score of the year. Padilla placed 12th overall (73-75-70*218) and finished the tournament six strokes back. Junior Ryan Ellis battled back from 43rd place after two rounds to finish 14th. Ellis shot a 68 for the final round. Gregg Oliphant (73-76-72*221) placed 28th for the Utes and finished 5-over-par, followed by Shawn Edwards (74-76-74*224) in 38th place at + 8. Jake Sowby finished 74th at +17.

The Utes final regular season tournament will be the Ben Hogan Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah, Apr. 21-22, followed by the Mountain West Conference Championship May 1-3 in Palm Desert, Calif.
