Utes Edge UNLV, 67-65, To Advance

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Tiana Fuertes made a 3-point shot with 14.4 seconds remaining Friday, giving top-seeded Utah a 67-65 victory over upset-minded UNLV and a berth in the finals of the Mountain West Conference tournament.
The Utes (22-7) will meet rival Brigham Young in the championship game Saturday night in the Thomas & Mack Center, after the men's title game. The Cougars defeated Colorado State 77-69 earlier Friday.
Fuertes scored all 12 of her points on 3-point shots in the second half as the Utes rallied from an eight-point deficit in the final eight minutes. She didn't miss a shot, and also had eight assists.
Kristina Andersen had 17 points for Utah and Lori Red added 11. Lauren Beckman had seven points and eight rebounds for the Utes.
Kinesha Davis scored 16 of her 23 points in the second half to lead the fifth-seeded Rebels (17-12), who rallied from an eight-point deficit to take their eight-point lead.
Dayna Gambill added 15 points for UNLV, Linda Frohlich scored 13 and Constance Jinks had 10. Frohlich and Davis had eight rebounds each.
