Salt Lake City - Utah guard/forward Lindsay Herbert was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, marking the first time she has earned the award.
A 5-11 junior from Couer d'Alene, Idaho, Herbert led the Utes to their ninth straight win of the year with a career high 19 points in a 63-48 win over No. 13 Oregon last week. Herbert was 6-of-9 from the field, 1-of-2 from three point land and 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the Ute victory. She also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists vs. the Ducks. A starter in every game this season, Herbert is averaging 8.2 points per game and helps lead a Utah defense that ranks first in the NCAA for scoring defense (46.8). The Utes, who entered the Associated Press top 25 poll at No. 25 this week, are off to a 9-0 start for the second time in four years.
