THIS WEEK:
The Utah Swimming and Diving team will begin their season this weekend as they travel to Fort Collins, Colo., for the Colorado State Early Bird Invitational.
PREVIEW:
At the invitational, the Utes will face ten other collegiate teams, including three conference challengers, Air Force, Colorado State, and Wyoming. The Utes will look to the new coaching staff for leadership and guidance, head coach Michael Litzinger is joined by Beth Jerome, the assistant women's coach, Darin Mai, the assistant men's coach and Carrie Ziebarth, the diving coach. This new Utah coaching staff will lead the way as the Utes make a name for themselves in the Mountain West Conference and nationally.
TAKE NOTE:
Senior Heidi Hausknecht, will be one to watch during the 2000 season. Hausknecht is the reigning conference champion in the 50 free and 100 butterfly, she also swam to a second place finish in the 100 free. "We are looking to Heidi for not only her leadership this year, but her experience in big meet situations to carry our team even further than before," states Michael Litzinger.
COMING UP:
The Utes will travel to in-state rival BYU on Friday Oct. 27, 2000. The meet will commence at 6:00 PM at the Richard's Building Pool.
