Skiing Completes Alpine Portion of Utah Invitational

SALT LAKE CITY - The alpine portion of the University of Utah Invitational was completed Jan. 17, at the Park City Mountain Resort. The University of Denver continues to lead, with a total of 212 race points. Utah jumped from fourth to second place, amassing 205.5 points. Colorado is in third place followed by New Mexico in fourth. Elizabeth Sherry continued her strong skiing finishing third in the women's slalom. Three Utes finished in the top nine in the women's slalom as Tina Kavcic and Sabrina Lawrence also had strong performances. The men were lead by Ryan Forsyth and Markus Leunig who finished first and second in the men's giant slalom. Due to poor weather conditions and the unfortunate accident endured by the University of Colorado cross country team, the nordic portion of the Utah Invitational has been postponed. No dates and times have been set for their conclusion.
