Utes Dominating After One Day of Competition

CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. - After the first day of competition, the University of Utah Ski Team finds itself in excellent standing. Their total point total of 198 points them 36 points ahead of second place Colorado.
In the women's giant slalom, Marianne Winge placed second among the collegiate competitors and Sabrina Lawerence finished fifth. Marianne was just .71 behind Roberta Pergher from the University of Denver.
In the men's giant slalom, Alain Britt-cote took first place with his best time of the year. Other high finishers were Markus Leunig at fifth, Ryan Forsyth at sixth and Mike Elvidge at eigth place.
In the women's 5K freestyle, Hailey Wappett finished in second place followed by Kristin Tjelle who took fifth.
The brother tandem of Frode and Rune Kollerud finished in first and second place in the men's 10K freestyle continuing in their domination in cross country races.
The invitational will continue tomorow with the slalom beginning with the men's first run at 9:30 a.m., and the skate cross country races starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
