SALT LAKE CITY - Mike Greene, Utah's premiere backstroker, will compete in the 1999 NCAA Swimming Championships, March 25-27 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Greene automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 back (49.27). At the 1999 WAC Championships, the junior tied for second-place in the 100 fly (48.52) and was fourth in the 200 back.
Throughout the 1998-99 season, Greene lead the Utes in the 100 fly and 100 and 200 back. He was ranked he is third in the 200 back and 100 fly and fourth in the 100 back going into the WAC Championships.
Last season, Greene competed in the 1998 NCAA Championships, where he placed 20th in the 100 fly. In WAC Championships competition, he was runner-up in the 100 fly and 100 back and swam lifetime bests in both events.
